Jammu attack: It happened because of presence of Rohingya refugees, says Speaker

Another officer and a civilian are among the six injured and have been moved to the military hospital.

IGP SD Singh Jamwal told reporters in Jammu that "around 4:55 am suspicious movement was noticed by the sentry and his bunker was sacked upon".


During the telephonic conversation, the home minister sought details from Director General of Police SP Vaid on the terrorist attack on the army camp in Jammu, according to a tweet by the Home Minister's Office.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to J&K Police chief and took stock of the situation. The area has been cordoned off and an operation is underway to bring the situation under control. The militants attacked the family quarters at Sunjwan Army camp leading to the deaths of two children. There were intelligence inputs about possible attacks in the state, and security forces were alert, but there was no specific information that they would strike this station in Jammu. "The operation is on", added the senior police official.


Several militant groups have been fighting for Kashmir's independence from India or its merger with Pakistan since 1989.

Twelve soldiers were killed and seven others were injured in that attack before the two "fidayeen" (suicide attack) terrorists were killed. Guru was hanged on February 9, 2013.
