2 killed in under-construction building collapse

A News Minute report said that thre people have lost their lives so far and at least 15 others are trapped.

At least four were killed and eleven others injured after a five-storey under construction building collapsed in Bengaluru's Kasavanahalli region on Thursday. The city police and National Disaster Relief Force personnel have rushed to the site for rescue operations, Karnataka State Emergency Operation Centre tweeted.

The injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital while rescue operations have been taken up on a war-footing.

According to the Bengaluru Mayor, a five-storey building was constructed but the permission for only three had been granted. The building, which is located on Sarjapur Road, allegedly violated several construction norms.

Mani, an eye witness said: "I was alerted by a huge sound at 4.45 pm while working at my shop near the building".

"The rescue work is underway", a senior police official posted in Bengaluru told Xinhua. The building was under construction from last six years.

Reports said the building belonged to a Kerala-based person named Ahmed. More details are awaited....
