Khattar has given corruption-free government to Haryana: Amit Shah

Mr Shah said that Haryana had got generous funds from the centre under the Narendra Modi government, and the Khattar government was giving a transparent regime to ensure all-round development. "We are answerable to the people and not to the Congress".

BJP President Amit Shah addressed the "Yuva Hunkar" rally in Jind, Haryana on Thursday.

The rally is being seen as an attempt by the BJP to consolidate its hold in Jind and adjoining areas and consolidating the Jat vote bank.

The 2016 violent Jat quota stir, dera followers' violence at Panchkula previous year, violence during Baba Rampal's arrest among other incidents also hogged the national headlines during BJP's tenure in Haryana.

Former Janta Dal-United minister Sharad Yadav said BJP organising a mega rally in Haryana's Jind is just a political stunt and will not benefit the nation. Under the Congress rule, "the money used to go down the gutter of corruption". The bike rally was led by BJP president Amit Shah, who rode pillion to the party's state unit chief Subhash Barala. Congress leader Ashok Tanwar was among the detained people.

He said while several Dera Sacha Sauda followers had been put behind bars in connection with the violence which broke out after the sect chief's conviction in a rape case in August a year ago, "ironically, the government has chose to withdraw cases against Jat agitation rioters who indulged in violence during the February 2016 quota stir".

The present government is working for the welfare and upliftment of all sections including farmers, women and youth, he said.

He countered Congress appeal to show the progress report saying, "The Congress has said that when Amit Shah comes, he should come with a progress report of four years". He said that he offers his respects to them.

Shah also touched upon other schemes and initiatives of the central government for the poor, women and other sections including insurance, rural electrification and toilet facility for all. Praising the Khattar government, he said Haryana has become kerosene-free. He also lauded Haryana farmers for ushering in "green revolution". The mega rally can also be seen as a beginning for 2019 Lok Sabha Assembly elections. "Today the BJP rules 19 states".

Shah also laid the foundation for 15 district offices.

"The rally is a part of BJP's "Mission Vistaar" and to strengthen the party at the booth level". "It is the land that has given foodgrains and soldiers to defend the country".
