Real Madrid blow as Kroos suffers knee injury

Real Madrid's Zinedine Zidane feels his side can replicate their 3-1 first leg win in Paris and that it will give them confidence to correct their form in La Liga.

Real Madrid have suffered an injury setback with the confirmation that central midfielder Toni Kroos will be out of action for at least two weeks after suffering a knee injury.

Zidane has been under pressure this season after a hard start to the campaign and his side are still struggling in La Liga, sitting 17 points and three places behind leaders Barcelona.

"Zidane has won eight titles in two years, that's more than enough".

Before that, Madrid face a run of five league games in 14 days, including a rescheduled trip to near neighbours Leganes next Wednesday.

"We have gone through a hard phase, but in recent weeks we have raised our level and I am confident that we will be very successful going forward", he said. Not long afterwards, Sergio Ramos raised eyebrows by admitting he wasn't sure that Zidane will stay even if he wins the Champions League.

With Real Madrid and PSG circling, Paul Mariner and Mark Donaldson explain how important it is for Tottenham to tie Mauricio Pochettino down to a long-term deal.
