Amazon Rewards Prime Members Who Shop At Whole Foods

Amazon Rewards Prime Members Who Shop At Whole Foods

Starting on Tuesday, Whole Foods shoppers who pay with the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa card will earn 5 percent back at the grocery chain's US stores.

Amazon continues to sweeten the deal for Prime members, this time when it comes to shopping at Whole Foods.

Both cards already offer 5 percent and 3 percent back, respectively, on Amazon.com purchases.

And earlier this month, Amazon said it will start delivering groceries from Whole Foods via its two-hour Prime Now delivery service.

So today, Amazon announced that Whole Foods is much more rewarding for Prime members. This week's announcement marks another big step, and likely not the last. Amazon also likely saves some money on credit card fees when Whole Foods customers pay with one of its branded cards than with another credit card. And the company made several moves to consolidate its leadership model over the course of the a year ago. The e-commerce titan has been cutting prices and even began selling its Echo smart speaker device in Whole Foods stores.

The implementation of a new inventory management system has led to bare shelves, and Whole Foods employees have detailed how Amazon is crushing team morale with its procedures.

Reports have surfaced that Amazon is consolidating its AmazonFresh and Amazon Prime Now divisions, streamlining its fresh food delivery operations in an effort to perhaps better accommodate Whole Foods Market and improve delivery experience through the recently-acquired brick-and-mortar retailer.
