OH 7th Grader Shoots Himself Inside Middle School Bathroom

Several schools in OH are on lockdown this morning after a 7th grader reportedly shot himself, multiple sources have reported.

The shooting occurred in a bathroom on the campus of Jackson Memorial Middle School, Jackson Township Police Chief Mark Brink said, according to television station WKYC in Cleveland. The unidentified 7th-grader was taken to a local hospital where his condition is unknown.

Authorities and school officials say they don't whether the student was alone at the time of the shooting and haven't released any other details about what happened.


The school district announced the lockdown at the middle school on Tuesday morning, and canceled classes at the district's four elementary schools.

Police said students and staff are safe and parents will be notified on when to pick up their children from school.

'The Middle School and High School are on lockdown at this time, ' Jackson Local Schools said in a statement. WKYC reported that the student has been hospitalized.


Students are in the process of being released to their parents. I love you just in case.

Police said the heavily emergency response was a precaution.
