Trump Is The Worst President, Expert Ranking Survey Reveals On Presidents' Day

After political experts in a New York Times survey showed President Donald Trump ranked at the very bottom on a scale of all the US presidents, a number of commentators on Twitter - including Trump critics - came to the president's defense, Mediaite reported Monday.

In the poll which ran on the Times website Monday, 170 members of the American Political Science Association's Presidents and Executive Politics section ranked Trump as the worst president of all-time after just thirteen months in office.

"Greatness" is hardly an objective or easily definable measure, and its vagueness is illustrated by the fact that presidents who have been dead for over a century have nonetheless managed to make significant gains in greatness since the last survey in 2014.

Professors Brandon Rottinghaus of the University of Houston and Justin S. Vaughn of Boise State University were the curators of the survey.

Trump ranked last in the poll, despite only being a year into his four-year presidency.

If you're thinking that Trump's lowly ranking is a wee bit premature after only a year and change in office, you're not alone.

Abraham Lincoln was in first place, followed by George Washington in second and Franklin D Roosevelt in third.

Roosevelt, the godfather of presidential liberalism, received more than twice as many votes from Republicans as Reagan, his conservative counterpart. It asked respondents to rate the presidents from 0-100, with 100 considered great. In a more specific cross-section, self-identifying Republicans gave him three Ds and two Cs - the higher marks were in communicating with the public and foreign policy leadership.

Former President Obama placed eighth on the list, with an average score of 71.13, jumping 10 places from the previous survey.
