Cerrone vs. Medeiros Best UFC Draw Ever in Austin

Cerrone vs. Medeiros Best UFC Draw Ever in Austin

Donald Cerrone brought his three-fight losing streak to an end on Sunday night at UFC Austin when he defeated Yancy Medeiros inside the Octagon in the main event of the show.

When Donald Cerrone finally lost two in a row, the third defeat came swiftly after. Cerrone, one of the winningest fighters in UFC history, was coming off of three straight losses to Darren Till, Robbie Lawler and Jorge Masvidal.

Another incentive for beating the Hawaiian was that it presented him an opportunity to enter the UFC history books.

Cerrone vs Nurmagomedov would be a fight that many UFC fans would love to see, but first, the undefeated Russian must beat interim UFC Lightweight Champion Tony Ferguson at UFC 223 on April 7. Incredibly, Medeiros, having just been knocked to the canvas by a Donald Cerrone right hand, even jumped the fence and embraced Cerrone's beloved grandmother. With the UFC threatening on several occasions recently to strip champion Conor McGregor on account of his inactivity, the victor of that fight may be declared undisputed champ.

The two fought in the main event of UFC Fight Night 126, and they were both obviously in good spirits. With the camera panning on him and the crowd going insane inside the Frank Erwin Center, Diaz proceeded to pull out a very suspect looking hand-rolled cigarette along with a lighter and pose to the camera with his signature hand pose. "They'll call me and say, 'We need you at 170, ' and I'll be like, 'Okay.' They all pay the same to me so it don't matter what it is".

Lewis almost had the finish in the opening round as he caught Tybura with a right hook, but the Pole survived the onslaught until the end of the round and got an early takedown in round two to even it up heading into the third.

"I just believed in myself", Lewis said afterwards.

Cerrone went right in on his downed opponent and landed some punches, forcing referee Herb Dean to end the fight. Who knows, I'll just fight whatever they tell me.
