That news story is entirely unconnected to the events at the Florida high school that left 17 people dead and many more injured.

A video suggesting Hogg is an actor was the No. 1 trending video on YouTube on Wednesday until it was taken down. An error message on the clip now states that it was removed for "violating YouTube's policy on harassment and bullying". But as such, it is also true that I go to Stoneman Douglas High School, and I was a witness to this.

Far-right conspiracy theorists are now targeting Florida school shooting survivor David Hogg with both a blatantly false attack involving a yearbook photo they claim proves he did not attend the high school and another false claim that he is actually a 26-year-old who was once arrested in SC.

There's also an interview of Hogg on a Los Angeles CBS Station back in August.

"I'm just so sorry that these people have lost their faith in America because I know I certainly haven't", Hogg said. One video has now been watched more than 9,200 times and sparked dozens of copycat takes. "Because the video contained footage from an authoritative news source, our system misclassified it".

"As soon as we became aware of the video, we removed it from Trending and from YouTube for violating our policies", the YouTube spokesperson confirmed. "We are working to improve our systems moving forward". On Reddit, some users were even posting mug shots of a 26-year-old named David Hogg, who was clearly a completely different person.

"I was a Navy pilot before I was an elementary school teacher".

In Florida, an aide to a state representative on Tuesday emailed a Tampa Bay Times reporter a screenshot of them being interviewed on CNN and said, "Both kids in the picture are not students here but actors that travel to various crisis when they happen".

A simple internet search for the students could've easily debunked such venomous theories.

In the days after their classmates were massacred by a disturbed kid who was allowed to purchase military-style weaponry, hundreds of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High survivors have become fiery gun-control advocates. He is among a number of Stoneman Douglas students calling for the government to act on gun control. "David Hogg is a school shooting survivor in Florida". When students were shown distraught over the failure of a gun control measure in the Florida legislature, he humorlessly quipped, "Worst news since their parents told them to get summer jobs".

As Cooper wrapped up the segment he apologized to the two, telling the father, "I wish you the best.", with Kevin Hogg, firing back, 'I'm not anxious about it.
