Mike Zimmer doesn't sound sold on Case Keenum

Despite playing at a borderline MVP level for the Vikings last season, Zimmer would never fully commit to Keenum as the team's starting quarterback, and that kind of treatment throughout the season could play into Keenum's ultimate decision, whether or not the Vikings are able to land Kirk Cousins in free agency.

But picking the wrong one?

The 30-year-old put together a career season, throwing for 3,547 yards with 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions over 15 games in 2017, his first season as a regular full-time starter. "I think his best thing is if he's just used on certain passing downs, try to limit his reps to 30ish".

"[The Vikings are] going to be in the race to get him ... so what they want to pay will determine a lot about this, but I think that if Keenum and Bridgewater are still out there, they may come back", Chadiha said. Enter Keenum, who was brilliant in helping lead the Vikings to an NFC North title and a berth in the NFC championship game.

Asked if he expects it to be decided by March 12 when a three-day negotiating period for free agents begins before the start of the league year, Spielman said, "It's up to the league".

Signing with the Vikings would enable Cousins to join a team with enough talent at other positions to be a clear Super Bowl contender. The Vikings' head coach said during his podium session that Bridgewater has the "heart of a lion" and said that he hopes he can keep coaching Teddy.

The Vikings have gotten shockingly little in return ever since they drafted Laquon Treadwell with the 23rd pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. "That's the monkey wrench in the whole thing". Zimmer said. "Can Sam stay healthy?"

Bridgewater presents the least-expensive option but also the least-known, considering he last started a meaningful game more than two years ago. He was putting up some big time numbers throughout the season, and that drive at the end of the game against the Saints was incredible. The two passes he threw in the fourth quarter of a blowout win over the Cincinnati Bengals marked the only game action he saw in 2017.

Rick Spielman lauded Latavius Murray's impact in his first season as a Viking. "Really, though, I'm just excited about the opportunity to play in the league", Ballage said. "If we don't do that, then I'll probably get fired". You can make mistakes in practice by just doing whatever you want to do and not having that affect you.

There are a lot of factors at play here, but sort of questioning a guy like this to the public doesn't seem like the wisest move to me. Obviously has a awful knee injury, don't get to see him play in real, live action in basically two years.
