Kirk Cousins not expected to get franchised tagged by Washington

Because of his statistical success, there has been much debate the past two seasons on whether or not Kirk Cousins is the guy to make a big offer too. According to Adam Schefter, the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals enter the fray.

There are many teams in the market for a new Quarterback this offseason, and the former Redskins QB is at the top of the wish list for some of those teams, one of them being the New York Jets.

The Kirk Cousins sweepstakes is already sizzling, even though technically teams can not talk about a contract at this time.

Cousins isn't expected to receive the franchise tag, Kimberley A. Martin of The Washington Post reports.

"Despite their willingness to throw a truckload of money and a heavily front-loaded contract at Cousins in an attempt to lure the free agent franchise quarterback to NY, the Jets are anxious he might already be destined to sign with the Vikings instead". He will not be returning to the Washington Redskins after quarterback Alex Smith was traded to Washington January 30th.

After placing a franchise tag on Cousins last season, paying him almost $24 million, the Redskins signaled the end of his time in Washington when they traded for Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith. The Broncos and Vikings were anticipated to be the two most likely teams among those four, considering their ability to pay Cousins what he's asking as well as give him a good chance of winning. Per Vincent Frank of the Yard Barker, Cousins is looking for a three-year deal with guaranteed money of $90 million. Cousins has averaged 67% completion, 4,392 yards, 27 TDs, and 12 INTs the past three years.

The Raiders lost their coin toss on Friday, and will now have the tenth overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Los Angeles Rams cornerback Trumaine Johnson is one of the more coveted free agents this offseason, and both Bay Area teams are going after him. They need a running back, tight end and offensive line help, and the defense ranked 25th in yards allowed.
