USA trying to interfere in our presidential poll: Russian Federation

"They use the most advanced methods of covert and technical intelligence", Putin said. "By the way, these are the figures for early 2017, and the capacity now stands at 1,025 billion tonnes", said the President.

May and Trump also discussed how Syria and its Russian and Iranian sponsor should call for an immediate ceasefire across the war-torn Syria, Politico reported.

Putin blamed the USA decision in 2002 to pull out of the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty and develop its global defence shield for prompting Russian Federation to develop its new arsenal.

"I do not know what they were guided by", Putin added.

The Russian president also warned that his country's military buildup would be able to cancel out NATO's amassment of military force on Russia's borders, though he stressed that Russia did not intend to attack any other country.

Sputnik: Experts said that this announcement, the development of a new strategic weapon, might start a new arms race, what are your thoughts on that? Moscow has also been denying allegations of trying to influence the USA presidential election.

Putin said on Thursday that his country has tested an array of new generation nuclear weapons capable of bypassing any missile defense system. But adding the variety to the old kinds of systems, the new weapons systems that are coming out, the long-range missile capabilities and the missile defense systems that are coming out, all of that points to the competition that's going to stay on and play in the coming decade, and I think that the INF Treaty violations, I think there have been back and forth between both sides and are hard to absolutely verify one way or the other.

With ties between Russian Federation and the U.S. roiled by allegations of Kremlin meddling in the 2016 USA presidential elections and deepening confrontation in Syria, the two powers risk a return to unbridled nuclear competition as the chances diminish of rescuing decades-old arms control agreements.

Earlier on Monday, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Moscow had evidence that the USA was trying to interfere in Russia's presidential election, but did not say what that evidence was.

In his annual state-of-the-nation speech in Moscow, Putin said the weapons include a nuclear-powered cruise missile, a nuclear-powered underwater drone and new hypersonic missile and showed video footage the launch of a new heavy intercontinental ballistic missile on big screens.

"Moreover, an opinion that circulates in US military circles is that strategic stability no longer exists and the United States has the capacity to deal a crushing blow to Russia,"The announcement of Russia's advanced weaponry destroys this stereotype".
