Former Cleveland Cavaliers guard Derrick Rose signs with Minnesota Timberwolves

The 29-year-old guard will sign a contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves for the rest of the season, per Adrian Wojnarowski.

It appears a long-rumored reunion between free agent guard Derrick Rose and Minnesota Timberwolves coach Tom Thibodeau is finally happening.

This young team has the ability to compete for National Basketball Association titles in coming years, with such a great lineup, and disciplined coach in Tom Thibodeau. The former Bulls star is moving on to his third team in less than two seasons after spending the first seven years of his career in Chicago. Rose traded to the Utah Jazz, as part of a three-team deal at the deadline, and was subsequently released. The 2010-11 MVP has been bothered by injuries this season and never found the right role during his time with the Cavaliers.

In his tenure with the Cavaliers, Rose registered 9.8 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 19.2 minutes of action per game. "Usually when I'm comfortable, I play well".

"Thibs gave me time to get that situation taken care of and to come out here whenever I had time, so I respect him for that", Rose said on Thursday while meeting with members of the media. How does the point guard fit into a team that seemingly has greater needs and is embarking on a tough stretch of games? "He's been around. He's been in a lot of games".

"We just thought he could help the team", Thibodeau said. I think he's seen a lot of different things, he's familiar with what we're doing, he's played with some of the guys we have.
