Vancouver 7s: Mocenacagi named Player of the Final

Kenya lost 12-31 to Fiji to grab 19 points in the Vancouver leg of the 2018 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

Kenya reached the semis with a 12-0 win over England, while the United States of America thrashed New Zealand 17-0.

On the artificial surface inside BC Place, in their opening fixture in Canada against Wales, England ran in six tries including a hat-trick for Dan Norton and two from Ollie Lindsay-Hague in a 36-5 win.

"We are the first team to win two tournaments this year but that will only make the other teams much harder to play against".

In the quarter-finals they'll face Argentina, runners-up in Pool B to England, who will take on Kenya.

The Aussies racked up two tries in the first four minutes and a third converted try by John Porch saw them lead 19-0 at the break.

Uruguay join Canada in the Challenge Trophy quarter-finals alongside Samoa, Wales, France, Spain, Scotland and Russian Federation.

Fiji answered with two more tries, this time from Amenoni Nasilasila and Mesulame Kunavula, and, although Kenya replied in the last seconds of the match with a try from Jeffrey Oluoch and a Samuel Oliech conversion, it was not enough to catch their opponents. It would be a battle between Canada and Australia throughout the day as both sides chased US in Pool A. USA's clash with Canada was one of the most thrilling of the day, Perry Baker securing a brace and Kevon Williams sealing the 28-21 win in the last play of the game.

South Africa, who beat Russian Federation 38-7 and thumped Scotland 21-0 to finish second in the group, face Australia.

Fiji had it well in hand when Ambaka went flying down the left wing apparently set to give Kenya a final try only for Tuwai to wrap him up. 2018 series leaders South Africa also got points on the board with an opening 38-7 win against Russian Federation.

Three tries in the first seven minutes put New Zealand on the road to victory over the Blitzboks.

New Zealand captain Curry got his side's second, but England responded immediately as Ruaridh McConnochie rounded off a slick move from deep inside their own half.

New Zealand will now play-off for seventh place against Argentina.
