No additional information was released about the threat to Atascadero schools, which remains under investigation.

A threat of a school shooting posted on a popular social media site prompted a major law enforcement response in two Cental Coast counties involving three high schools.

The lockdown at San Leandro High School in California on Wednesday (local time) has since been lifted but caused chaos for the better part of the day.

The district says all students and staff are safe.

In Atascadero, a student made threats to "shoot up" the northern San Luis Obispo County high school.

Klein said about 150 students were pulled out of class after the lockdown.

The lockdown at Atlantic City High School started as the clock closed in on 10 a.m., minutes before students across the state walked out of schools to protest gun violence. "We brought in police department staff and we systematically searched the school".

Lt. Isaac Benabou with the San Leandro Police Department says the graffiti was found in a boys' bathroom on campus Wednesday morning.

Righetti High students held a National Student Walkout rally in the campus amphitheater during the Noon lunch hour to commemorate the victims of the school shootings in Florida one month ago.
