Trump to oust national security advisor HR McMaster

Trump raised eyebrows on Tuesday when he unexpectedly announced in a tweet that he had fired Tillerson and tapped CIA Director Mike PompeoMichael (Mike) Richard PompeoThe CIA may need to call White House to clarify Russian Federation meddling Intel agencies to brief officials from all 50 states on election threats Russian Federation probe complicating House hearing on threats facing USA: report MORE as his next secretary of State.

On Wednesday, Trump named conservative TV analyst Larry Kudlow to replace his top economic adviser, Gary Cohn, who quit over trade disagreements with the president.

The shake-ups come as Trump signaled this week that he's prepared to dismiss aides with whom he's clashed as he works to surround himself with advisers more aligned with his populist agenda and freewheeling style.

Meanwhile, sources told CBS News that Kelly, who has been known to vex the president from time to time, could also be on the way out of the administration. "I want to also see different ideas".

General McMaster was appointed in February previous year following the resignation of Michael Flynn, who has since pleaded guilty to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about his contacts with the Russian government.

Everybody fears the perp walk, .

All of the shakeups in the White House could be exactly what Trump wants, judging by comments he made yesterday.

The Pentagon has been preparing options for a possible new job for McMaster, an army lieutenant general, fueling speculation that he would soon leave the White House. "If it could happen to Johnny, the president's body guy, it could happen to anybody".

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly - who has himself been the subject of departure rumours - is said to be "eager to see McMaster go".

The newspaper mentioned John Bolton, a former USA ambassador to the United Nations, and National Security Council (NSC) Chief of Staff Keith Kellogg among possible candidates to replace McMaster.

The criticism laid bare the strained relationship between the two men and left some wondering how much longer McMaster has left in the administration. The president is said to remain pleased with Mattis, as the defense secretary rarely publicly disagrees with Trump and has succeeded in quietly working through any differences, according to three White House officials and outside advisers. Trump also thinks Bolton, who regularly praises the president on Fox News Channel, is good on television.

"The chief of staff actually spoke to a number of staff this morning, reassuring them that there were no immediate personnel changes at this time", Sanders told reporters. They are eager to show that someone can serve in the Trump administration without suffering severe damage to their reputation. Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin has attracted Trump's ire for his spending decisions as well as for general disorder in the senior leadership of his agency.

Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and the Federal Commission on School Safety also plan on looking into the current youth consumption of violent entertainment and improvements on access to mental health treatment among other things.
