GAME OVER: Kaepernick SNUBBED by Team After Refusing to STAND

Free-agent safety Eric Reid, Kaepernick's former teammate who kneeled with him in 2016, was also apparently asked for assurances during a recent visit with the Cincinnati Bengals that he would not take part in on-field activism.

A 2017 report claimed that Kaepernick would be standing for the national anthem, but it was denied by his girlfriend, Nessa. Should the two sides be able to work beyond the bumps in the road, Kaepernick would still appear a capable backup to Russell Wilson, as he still maintained a high passer rating and completion percentage even on a downtrodden 49ers team.

Seattle Times' Seahawks reporter Bob Condotta also said Seattle spoke with Kaepernick, but added the team hasn't ruled him out as an option and "the hope is he can still be brought in for a visit". He did meet with the Seahawks a year ago. Previous year they rolled with Austin Davis, who is bad, and Trevone Boykin who is both bad and already off the roster following a domestic violence arrest.

"The NFL should have suspended him for one game and he would have never done it again", Trump told Sean Hannity last October.

More ahead on NFL Live now.

The anthem protest continued last season, with players from multiple teams kneeling, while others linked arms in their own form of protest and some players remained in the locker room while Star Spangled Banner was being played.

At the upcoming league meetings in May, Mortensen said the anthem issue is "back on the front burner". SB Nation, meanwhile, reports that the Seahawks told Kaepernick not to bother attending the workout if he planned to continue kneeling. That, according to Schefter, may have scared the Seahawks, who have already parted ways with outspoken activists Michael Bennett and Richard Sherman this offseason. Duane Brown has also protested in the past, and is now on the Seahawks' roster.
