Heynckes fired up for 'gigantic' Real Madrid clash

Bayern Munich's decision to name Eintracht Frankfurt tactician Niko Kovac as their new coach on Friday has not gone down well with the Frankfurt club.

Kovac took over at Eintracht Frankfurt in March 2016 with the Hessians fighting to avoid the drop, which they managed only after winning the relegation playoff against FC Nuremberg.

Kovac who is a former Croatia global played 34 Bundesliga matches for Bayern from 2001 to 2003, scoring three goals.

The 46-year-old is now at the helm of Eintracht Frankfurt - who sit fifth in the table, 26 points adrift of Kovac's new employers - who already have the league title in the bag. In games like this, the team performance is important.

And just last week, Frankfurt and Kovac effectively denied there had been any contact from Bayern and were insistent he was staying put. Aged 18 years, 307 days, Havertz set up two goals.

"It must be a day to celebrate for media and fans with so many highlights", said the 72-year-old coach of the 2018 German champion.

Bayern did not reveal the cost of poaching Kovac, but both Bild and Sport Bild claimed that his departure before the end of his Frankfurt contract in 2019 would cost Bayern 2.2 million euros. That's why this point in time is not a very fortunate one for us. In addition, they travel to Schalke in the German cup, and would go up against Bayern in the final if both sides win their semifinals.

Madrid were hardly convincing in the second leg against Juventus but Cristiano Ronaldo is unstoppable in this competition and I expect him to make the difference.

Bobic added: "They did their thing and thought of themselves".

Former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel had already turned down Bayern and is expected to be the next coach of Paris Saint-Germain.

The Berlin born Croatian previously led the Croatian national team at the 2014 World Cup where they thrashed Cameroon 4-0, but suffered 3-1 defeats to hosts Brazil and then Mexico, meaning they bowed out at the group stage.

Los Merengues made it to their eight straight semi finals and will hoping to be crowned champions for the third successive season to make it 13 in total.

Not to be outdone Lewandowski, sporting a black eye from Wednesday's Champions League clash against Sevilla, came on for Wagner to score Bayern's fifth.

The Spanish giants have owned the tournament in recent years, becoming the first club in history to win it in its modern format in back-to-back seasons last year.
