Searchers Find Woman's Body in Eel River

The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office said it may be Hannah or Sierra.

Initially, Allman said the body was that of a child but the sheriff's office later corrected that it was a woman's.

The SUV pulled onto a gravel turnout during a severe rainstorm, but parked too close to the river on the soft shoulder, and the ground gave way, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office. They later left the state and never registered in local school districts in OR and Washington OR notified authorities they planned to home-school the children.

The family from Santa Clarita have not been heard from since late last week when they were in Klamath-Redwood National Park area in Northern California. They were reported missing when they failed to arrive at a relative's home in San Jose for a Friday stopover. "These items were of a personal nature and will not be described further at this time, but it does confirm the fact the vehicle that was seen going into the river was that of the Thottapilly family". The body of a young woman was found nearby about a week ago, but has not yet been identified.

Two children were among the four members of the Thottapilly family of Santa Clarita, California, who were reported missing.

On April 6, a vehicle was reportedly submerged in the Eel River, a little north of the town of Leggett, during heavy rains. The vehicle submerged and vanished before rescuers reached the scene.

Authorities responded to the river, but while they were unable to search the river at the time due to the weather conditions, they recovered a auto part that came from a maroon Honda Pilot, according to the CHP. Three other children are missing.

The anxious father also posted a Facebook message asking Sandeep's employer, Union Bank, to assist in finding the family.

An SUV made a deadly and possibly intentional plunge off a towering ocean bluff along State Route 1 last month.

A body identified as African-American and female was found floating near the crash site on April 7.

Sarah and Jennifer Hart, both 39, and their six adopted children were believed to be in the auto at the time.

Washington state authorities began investigating the Harts for possible child neglect a few days before the five bodies were recovered.
