Dallas takes UT offensive tackle Connor Williams with second pick

The Dallas Cowboys kept talking up the receivers they already had going into the National Football League draft after dumping Dez Bryant in a cost-cutting move.

With that said, day two of the NFL Draft for the Cowboys was well above average, and with the two newest members of the Cowboys joining an already talented offense in place, the win total could trend upward compared to last season's overall record.

FRISCO, Texas (AP) - The Dallas Cowboys have drafted a tight end with Jason Witten on the verge of retirement after 15 seasons.

When he declared for the draft in December, he wrote an essay thanking the bullies who tormented him when he was a child because he was overweight and had a speech impediment.

"Schultz stands 6'6" and weighs 244 pounds. The only other issue could be 33-inch arms, which is a bit on the short side for a tackle in the NFL.

Williams didn't care which position he'd play: "Wherever the coach wants me to play, I'm playing".

During his time with the Rams, Gallup caught 176 passes for 2,690 yards in 26 games.

"I'm not really coming to replace anybody", he said from his home in Monroe, Georgia. The third-day choices were Schultz, quarterback Mike White of Western Kentucky (fifth round), receiver Cedrick Wilson of Boise State (sixth) and Alabama running back Bo Scarbrough (seventh).
