Things the New Trump Tower Meeting Documents Tell Us

Still, details about the American businessman's failed courtship of the Russian autocrat - some of which were freshly revealed in Goldstone's testimony and others that were reported by The Washington Post two years ago - illustrate the depth and tenure of Trump's infatuation, which predated the 2016 presidential campaign during which he routinely praised Putin.

Donald Trump Jr. told the Senate Judiciary Committee a year ago he did not recall ever discussing the Russia investigation with his father and said he didn't think there was anything wrong with meeting a Russian lawyer at Trump Tower ahead of the 2016 presidential election, according to transcripts released Wednesday of his interview with the panel.

About 2,500 pages of documents were released on Wednesday, including the interviews with Trump Jr. and Rob Goldstone, a music publicist who arranged the meeting and said in text messages it was part of a Russian government effort to aid the Trump campaign.

"We further assess Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump", the ICA said.

Special counsel Robert Mueller took a keen interest in this meeting as part of his probe into allegations of collusion between Trump campaign officials and Russian Federation.

Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, who declined to be interviewed by the committee, said in an 11-page statement that he had "hardly any" contacts with Russians during the campaign and that he "did not remember" the Trump Tower meeting.

Trump Junior said he doesn't remember discussing the Russian Federation investigation with this father.

Jared Kushner became "agitated" and "infuriate [d]" when a meeting arranged with a Russian Lawyer at Trump Tower in 2016 ended up focusing on US sanctions rather than promised damaging information on Hillary Clinton, a friend of the Trumps who helped set up the meeting testified to Congress.

Warner said Monday that, "Everyone that we've ever had testify still stands by the full findings of the ICA, " referring to the intelligence community's assessment. "I never spoke with my father about it". "Joanna Glover" appears to be GOP lobbyist Juleanna Glover, a former Dick Cheney aide who worked on the Magnitsky Act. One of suspicions is if he came from his parent a call from a secret number he received after speaking with Emin Agalarov, Russian musical star linked to lawyer and who promoted meeting.

"You could tell that they were not interested, and they were like looking at their phones or like, you know, just looking the other way, their watch", Akhmetshin told the committee. He wrote that Agalarov hoped the document would be delivered to "the appropriate team".

"A lot of Russian words" were exchanged, Goldstone recalled.

Rep. Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, welcomed the Senate Intelligence Committee's findings. Peskov invited Trump to attend the Olympic Winter Games in February 2014 in Sochi "and said he'd be happy to meet him there or at any future time", Goldstone said, an offer Trump did not accept.

"I just sent somebody an email that says I'm setting up a meeting for someone that is going to bring you damaging information about somebody who was running to become the President of the United States", said Goldstone in the transcript.

In his testimony to Congress, Trump Jr. confirmed he was talking about the opposition research when he said "I love it". Moscow denies its interference in the American election campaign.

Agalarov was a partner of Trump's in staging the Miss Universe pageant in Moscow in 2013.
