Trent Alexander-Arnold will make his England debut against Costa Rica

For all their excitement and everything positive in the first halves of England's matches against Nigeria and Costa Rica, their play slipped after half-time in both games.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Navas was completely caught out moments later, though, as Rashford unleashed a powerful drive from 25 yards that dipped perfectly over him and into the top corner for his third global goal.

A stunning strike from Marcus Rashford and a Danny Welbeck header sparked a confident-looking England to a 2-0 win over Costa Rica in their pre-World Cup friendly at Elland Road.

Next up for England will be their World Cup opener against Tunisia on June 18th, so here are five things we learned from their final World Cup warm-up match.

Gareth Southgate's side took on Costa Rica at Elland Road, in their final warm-up game before the squad flies out to Russian Federation.

"Firstly, incredibly courageous and honest", the England manager said.

Following a hard season for several of the county's leading sides - with only Huddersfield Town flying the White Rose flag in the Premier League - the game will be a weclome fillip for the wider area, according to England manager Southgate. That's what's best for the England national team and us as individuals. But we believe in him.

In the here and now, Southgate believes that England being away from their Wembley "comfort zone" in their final warm-up before heading to Russian Federation will also prove beneficial.

Southgate rang the changes after the hour mark as Dele Alli, Danny Welbeck, Kieran Trippier and Nick Pope were introduced for the home side.

Gareth Southgate will hand 19-year-old Trent Alexander-Arnold his England debut and Jack Butland will also start in goal.

"We have got a good chance".

The key question now for Southgate is whether he opts to play Rashford in attack alongside Harry Kane or whether Raheem Sterling will keep that role.

Southgate called the goal "world class" but he was just as happy with the all-round play of the 20-year-old Manchester United forward.
