Nintendo unveils Super Smash Bros. Ultimate featuring more characters than ever

Nintendo unveils Super Smash Bros. Ultimate featuring more characters than ever

Perhaps just as importantly, though, Nintendo will also bring back some of the series' most beloved stages from previous entries as well.

The biggest video game conference of the year has just finished its publisher's stage conferences with the Nintendo E3 2018 Direct.

"It was widely rumoured that Epic Games' Fortnite was making its way to the Switch, but an earlier-than-expected release gives Nintendo a better chance of maintaining momentum through the summer months", commented Piers Harding-Rolls, head of games research at the IHS Markit consultancy. Depending on what kind of Nintendo fan you are, you're either overjoyed to see Ridley join the roster, or miffed that anticipated E3 2018 games like a new Animal Crossing on Switch and Metroid Prime 4 were total no-shows. Considering what fans were quite reasonably expecting, though, this one came to a bit of a sudden, surprising halt. Nintendo is pumping up the list with free-to-play games with the announcement of Fortnite and Paladins.

Other new games introduced during the broadcast, which are coming to Switch but may also make their way to other platforms, include Overcooked 2 (sequel to the chaotic co-operative cooking challenge game) and Killer Queen Black, a new version of a modern arcade favourite that lets two teams of four players compete in real-time strategic battles.

During Nintendo E3 2018 new releases trailer we can find titles that were already announced during the show, have already leaked or were announced a while back.

Octopath Traveler, the latest title from Square Enix, is finally nearly done. It announced that Fortnite, the massively popular online battle-royale game, is now available for the console, and will be joined by a host of other new third-party games by the end of the year, including Federation Internationale de Football Association 19, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Paladins, and Starlink: Battle for Atlas.

That was a long one right?

Many analysts believe that a lack of compelling content in the Wii U's second year of release contributed to its underperformance.

Ridley was confirmed to be launching with the game.

Nintendo announced in April that it had sold 17.7 million units of the Switch to date, and forecast it would sell a further 20 million over the following year.

And that's part of the story for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on December 7 this year.

After that, we take a good 15 minutes to talk about the characters in depth, detail their special abilities and mechanics.
