Univision's Splinter News under fire for doxing Stephen Miller

At the briefing, Miller sparred with CNN reporter Jim Acosta, who asked him how the new policy would jibe with the words of the Emma Lazarus poem on the Statue of Liberty that declares "give me your exhausted, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free".

The White House's zero-tolerance policy was controversial because it would result in the prosecuted parents being separated from their children, who could not be held in federal detention with their parents while the cases are adjudicated.

"President Trump and his policy makers, having risen to power on the back of Trump's xenophobic campaign rhetoric, employ a darker and more morally flexible pragmatism".

White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller is the main architect of President Trump's hard-line immigration policy, and according to several accounts - including his own - he reveled in the incarceration of migrant children separated from their parents at the U.S. -Mexico border, viewing it as a tactical policy success.

One of the two immigration bills up for consideration already failed on the House floor Thursday afternoon. In an interview with theNew York Times he said it was a "simple decision".

Rep. Mike Coffman (R-CO) is the latest member of the GOP to condemn President Donald Trump's policy of separating families at the border, but he's not looking to blame Donald Trump.

"And the President should fire Stephen Miller now", Coffman wrote. He previously worked for Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who spearheaded the launch of the new "zero-tolerance" prosecutions against families.

Miller responded that while the statue is "a symbol of American liberty lighting the world", the poem, which was affixed to the statue after it went up, "is not actually a part of the original Statue of Liberty".

Miller, perhaps ironically, is himself descended from immigrants who came through Ellis Island.
