Trump in Fargo dubs Heidi Heitkamp a ‘liberal Democrat,’ urges her defeat

"I became president and they didn't", Trump said, to cheers from the audience, in a move he repeated once again on Wednesday.

Trump's aides also spoke with "more than a dozen other senators today as part of ongoing outreach to get views and advice from both sides of the aisle", Sanders said.

Trump planned to spend the night in the Milwaukee area.

"[Crowley] actually had a lot of money left over and he was going to take Nancy Pelosi's place" as Democratic leader, Trump said. She also voted against some of his Cabinet nominees.

"Heidi will vote no on any pick we make to the Supreme Court", he said. "I only answer to North Dakotans who deserve an independent voice in the Senate".

Trump, with his arms spread wide for what appeared a hugging embrace, quickly readjusted his arms right before embracing Cramer.

Trump's popularity in the North Dakota is unquestionably strong. Republicans see the reliably red state as an opportunity to add to their slim majority in the Senate.

Leaders of farm groups and food banks used President Donald Trump's visit to North Dakota to protest about trade, ethanol production, nutrition programs and farm bill negotiations. In doing so he took a narrative crafted by incumbent Senator Heidi Heitkamp, one which supposed that the President likes her more, and threw it in the trash. At that event, Trump called her a "good woman" and said he hoped for her support.

He said the increasingly leftward movement of the Democratic Party was making it harder for them to realize their goal of taking control of the House and Senate in November.

The protesters "really want anarchy", Trump said. And I'm sure that was the story angle Heitkamp's people were pitching. He highlighted a directive to create a sixth branch of the military, a Space Force.

Right now, with Democrats heavily invested in their Heidi-is-pro-Trump narrative, would be the ideal time for Trump himself to descend on the race and rile up the Republican base for Cramer.

The president also dismissed the investigation into his campaign's ties with Russian Federation as a "hoax".

Maxine Waters and Supreme Court Justices Anthony M. Kennedy and Neil Gorsuch did not feature heavily in Donald Trump's midterm campaign spiel.

Heitkamp joined Democrats in voting against tax cuts Trump enacted past year.

Just one day after he campaigned against her in Fargo, Sen. North Dakota's agricultural economy is dependent on exports and the Beijing government recently imposed a 25 percent tariff on soybeans, the state's top crop.

Drivers stopped on the northbound lanes of Interstate 29 exited their cars to record the motorcade as it passed by on its way to Scheels Arena. "Heidi will vote no to any pick we make". He insisted on an exclamation point.

And from the stage, Trump used a newer phrase: "Keep America Great!"
