Apple's New Leather Sleeves for MacBook Pro Priced from $239 CAD

Apple's New Leather Sleeves for MacBook Pro Priced from $239 CAD

Just when we thought the MacBook Pro was as good as it gets, Apple jumped right in and surprised as all with the new 2018 lineup that is capable of putting a lot of notebooks out there to shame.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro features, among others, a quad-core processor and up to 2TB of SSD storage.

The aptly named miniature desktop computer Mac mini may get an update before the year ends. The 15-inch is available with an 6-core 8th gen Intel i7 of i9 processor, with 2.9GHz speeds and Turbo Boost that ups that to 4.8GHz. The RAM can be as much as 32GB of DDR4 memory and GPUs are, of course, discrete AMD Radeon Pros with 4GB of video memory.

One report said the keyboard issue led to far more "warrantee events" in the 2016 models than in MacBook Pros from previous years. Coffee Lake chips didn't add support for the more frugal LPDDR4 in their integrated memory controllers. Both new models are listed on the India site. However, the new models still use a butterfly keyboard, and those who find them uncomfortable to type on will likely be sad to learn of the retirement of the only non-butterfly MacBook Pro option. With the new update and features, Apple plans to make the MacBook even more ideal for professionals and content creators. Apparently, the clack of short-travel keys was more annoying.

Intel's 8th-generation Coffee Lake processors have finally made it onto the MacBook Pro after months of lag time behind its competitors.

The new MacBook Pros start at Dh7,499 (13 inches) and Dh9,999 (15 inches).

The company has also unveiled new leather sleeves for the new MacBook Pro models, in Saddle Brown, Midnight Blue, and Black (for the first time) colour variants.

The MacBook Pro's Retina display features 500 nits of brightness, support for P3 wide colour gamut, now also has True Tone display, making it the best display on a Mac. They maintain the 500-nit maximum brightness and 100% DCI P3 coverage that have always been hallmarks of the modern MacBook Pro.

The 2.2 GHz model starts at US$2399 and the 2.6 GHz model is priced starting at $2799. Both machines should be available today.

Fans of Apple's laptops have also been expecting updates to the more basic MacBook, as well as the lightweight MacBook Air. With the T2 Chip, Apple can deliver an enhanced security system with support for secure boot and on-the-fly encrypted storage.
