Donald Trump denies knowing in advance of 2016 meeting with Russian lawyer

President Donald Trump's eldest son changed his account of the meeting he had with a Russian lawyer during the 2016 campaign over the weekend, saying Sunday July 9, 2017, that Natalia Veselnitskaya told him she had information about Clinton.

President Trump's attorney Rudy Giuliani says that federal investigators have 183 "unique conversations" recorded by Michael Cohen, the president's former attorney and fixer.

The meeting, which took place in Trump Tower in June 2016, involved Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., Trump's campaign chairman Paul Manafort, his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and a Russian lawyer tied to the Kremlin.

"He can not be believed", Rudy Giuliani, a lawyer for Trump, said on Thursday, referring to Cohen. "If they [Mueller's investigation] rely on would destroy whatever case they have".

Issa, though, is no fan of Cohen, calling him "a turncoat lawyer" who should be "disbarred" for recording his client without his knowledge when the two were discussing payments to a former Playboy model.

"No, I didn't know anything about the meeting", Trump told The New York Times that month.

Cohen is under federal investigation in NY.

"We have an outstanding offer to them", Giuliani said.

Trump's lawyer/spokesman Rudolph W. Giuliani appeared on Fox News's and CNN's morning shows on Monday to downplay the idea that colluding with the Russians would have even been illegal and to argue against strawmen.

Cohen is at the center of a federal criminal investigation into whether he committed bank fraud, wire fraud, and campaign finance violations while working for Trump during the election.

Costello said his colleagues in Congress are going to focus not on Trump, but on the successes of the administration's policies. A first statement said that the participants had mostly discussed adoption of Russian orphans in the United States.

"We have determined the fact that he tampered with the tape, in the sense that he abruptly, mid-conversation, turned it off", Giuliani said Saturday on Fox News.

"He did not participate in any meeting about the Russian Federation transaction", Giuliani said. Donald Trump used a blocked number, other witnesses have told Congress. Trump Jr. Defendants looking for lenient deals through their cooperation usually have better luck if they come through the government's door earlier in an investigation.

He went on to question Cohen's choice of retaining lawyer Lanny Davis, suggesting because of the decision that Bill and Hillary Clinton might have been behind Cohen's claim. "Whatever spin Mr. Giuliani is trying to invent, it says 'cash, ' and Michael Cohen says 'no, no, no'". Giuliani, who called Cohen "an honest, honorable lawyer" as recently as May, has made a sport out of bashing Cohen in recent days.

"(T) he rigged Witch Hunt continues!" he complained, adding: "How stupid and unfair to our Country".
