Doom Eternal Gameplay, Story Details Revealed

As the Slayer, allow real players to invade your campaign as demons for a dramatic and unpredictable twist anytime you're playing the campaign.

QuakeCon, an annual convention celebrating the "Quake" video game franchise and all things Bethesda, kicked off Thursday at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas. DOOM made a name for itself with gunplay that felt powerful and controlled well, so it looks like we can expect more of the same in Eternal.

The day has finally arrived, today at Quakecon, the folks at id Software showed off the first gameplay footage from DOOM Eternal. "Everything you saw, that's pushing the envelope", Stratton explained. The game will feature double the enemies compared to the previous title, and they will also visibly take damage from weapons fire, with chunks of body parts being blown off.

There was also confirmation that Doom Eternal will also release on Nintendo Switch. The Slayer's got several new skills and weapons up his sleeves, including a new dash mechanic, a grappling hook mod for scaling walls and slicing up baddies and an explosive spear-launcher called the Ballista.

DOOM Eternal- When is it coming out? Unfortunately, we didn't actually get to see the game in action - we only got a brief teaser, which was heavy on freaky demonic imagery, but light on details.

Promising "twice as many demons", DOOM Eternal will bring back the likes of the Archvile, Pain Elemental, and the Arachnotron, as you'll see in the gameplay reveal trailer below.

At this point, there is still no official release window for DOOM Eternal. Witness the tumbling skyscrapers of Hell on Earth; battle through an invasion of the mammoth BFG 10,000 on Phobos; and discover the ancient secrets of the DOOM universe.

So you can look forward to that! It was teased that this will just be one of the ways that you'll be able to enjoy the game with friends, so there seems to be other multiplayer ideas in the works.
