Samsung pushes the envelope with Galaxy Note 9

Consumers pre-booking the Galaxy Note 9 will also get a chance to own a Samsung Gear Sport smartwatch for ₹4,999. The Program offers an upgrade bonus of Rs.6,000 on exchange of the old device, and you will have to pay the remaining amount of the exchange value.

The smartphone will be available globally from August 24 and for the India market, it will be manufactured at Samsung's largest mobile manufacturing plant in Noida that was recently inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. While we can't offer firm buying advice just yet, here are my initial impressions of the device - and, spoiler alert, it is nothing short of a monster! It is available in Midnight Black, Ocean Blue, and Metallic Copper (limited to 128 GB variant) color options in the country. The standard sale will begin on August 22. Notably, Airtel also bundles free postpaid plan every month with benefits of 100GB data, unlimited voice calling, 100 SMS per day, one-year free Amazon Prime subscription and one year of Airtel TV & Wynk Music subscription. Samsung India has also joined the list and started taking pre-orders for the new Note smartphone.

In terms of specifications, the device features a 6.4-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 1440x2960pixels resolution and an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. Under the hood, the device is powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC paired with Adreno 630 GPU. Samsung's made just the right changes to the Note 9's retail box and honestly, these aren't even necessary. It will have two variants - 6GB RAM/128GB internal memory (expandable up to 512GB) and 8GB RAM/512GB internal memory (expandable up to 512GB).

Galaxy Note 9 comes with a dual 12MP+12MP camera.

"S Pen now has remote control functionality along with Bluetooth connectivity and extremely fast charging", the company executive explained. The fingerprint sensor is now below the camera, whereas the Note 8 had the sensor next to the cameras. Additionally, the phone also includes "Intelligent Scan" that combines iris scan and face recognition for enhanced authentication services.

For those of you who own a Sam's Club membership (or are thinking about getting one), the bulk grocery store is offering a $200 store gift card when preordering a Galaxy Note 9, plus you still qualify for Samsung's bonus gift (s). Opt for the $1,250 model and you get an additional 384GB of storage and 2GB of RAM.

More exciting is the increased battery, with the new phone sporting a 4000mAh cell.

As rumoured the S-Pen is Bluetooth-enabled with a button that can be used to activate the camera shutter.

"It's designed for a level of performance, power and intelligence that today's power users want and need", he added.
