Jose Mourinho: There is no unity without the manager

Jose Mourinho: There is no unity without the manager

Bastian Schweinsteiger was a World Cup victor when he arrived at United from Bayern Munich, but Mourinho has moved them all on because their future was nowhere near as bright as their past.

Spurs hit three unanswered second-half goals to leave Mourinho up against it.

That didn't look too good to me.

Mourinho is at the front of the firing line with odds on him being the first Premier League manager of the season to lose his job already being slashed after two consecutive defeats.

With ten minutes remaining, and with Manchester United trailing to goals from Harry Kane and Lucas Moura, Old Trafford began emptying. "You want to make the miracle of my team played so well, and strategically we were so, so, so, so good".

Former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness believes that Jose Mourinho could be heading in the same direction with Manchester United this season as Antonio Conte did with Chelsea last season.

Changes were rung and the system was tweaked for tonight's game but United were again all over the place at the back - with 3-0 probably even flattering United.

"Our fans don't read newspapers, they don't watch television, they're more intelligent than that", he intimated.

"No", he said. "Because in the first game Lindelof and Bailly, now Jones and Smalling but now Jones is injured and in the next match will be Smalling with another one and when Marcos Rojo comes he will also be an option".

"With [the first] goal you want to transform the story of the game", he told the press.

It looks like come January, Mourinho will be looking for new players. Two Champions Leagues; three Premier Leagues; FA Cups; League Cups; titles in Portugal, Italy and Spain; but it is all in the past.

Asked if he knew what his best defence was, Mourinho accepted he was unsure.

Jose Mourinho's side was under pressure to get a win following last Sunday's 3-2 loss to Brighton and Fred almost gave them a dream start when he chested down a loose ball in Spurs' penalty area and fired a low volley into the side netting.

Mourinho has won three league titles in two separate stints with Chelsea - his last coming in 2015.
