Deputy shoots gunman at Del Mar Racetrack before Ice Cube concert

"The racetrack has always been refuge from realities of our World, today shortly after last race at Del Mar Racing, several shots were fired yards from our TVG set during brawl outside Fountain admission gate", Schrupp wrote.

"An argument ensued and nearby deputies responded", she said.

Authorities said a man fired his gun near the race track and a deputy returned fire.

Ice Cube tweeted at his fans, "come see ya homie Cube... but leave the strap at home".

Elizarraras was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla and as of Monday, was listed in stable condition and is expected to survive.

San Diego's FOX 5 reported that a San Diego Sheriff's Department deputy had shot a suspect near the racetrack entrance.

Witnesses said the man had fired three shots and that sheriff's deputies had tried to stop him with a Taser before opening fire, CNN affiliate CBS 8 reported. Passing concert-goers can be heard shouting expletives after the shooting.

The Del Mar Racetrack tweeted that the situation was under control, and that a scheduled concert by rapper Ice Cube would go ahead as planned. No one else is believed to have been injured in the incident. "In light of the circumstances that unfolded involving one individual with a gun, we take consolation in the fact that no patrons, officers or security personnel were injured in the incident", the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club said in a statement.

We also are thankful for the work and training our personnel have done with the Sherriff's Department regarding possible active shooter incidents.

The shooting, which occurred during the final race of the day, created a chaotic scene at the venue.
