Mueller Will Accept Some Written Answers From Trump ZlotoNews

Robert Mueller has chose to accept written answers from President Trump regarding the ongoing investigation into Russian collusion - but may attempt a follow-up interview at a later date, a report said Tuesday.

Mueller's decision to accept at least some written responses represents a concession to Trump's legal team, which since December has resisted the special counsel's efforts to interview the president. In other words, they will not allow any questions that go to the issue of obstruction of justice.

Mueller's investigators and Trump's legal team have engaged in a monthslong back-and-forth about whether Trump will sit down for an interview.

Trump then suggested that the special counsel personally dislikes him, and claimed Mueller's team of prosecutors had a partisan vendetta against him. Trump's team has not yet responded to the offer.

Trump's first team of criminal lawyers made a decision to cooperated fully with Mueller, saying their client had nothing to hide.

"We continue to maintain an ongoing dialogue with the office of the special counsel", Trump's lawyer Jay Sekulow told reporters. "We do not discuss the contents of those discussions".

The note, which The Times reported was sent Friday, also didn't ask for written responses on another aspect of the probe - whether tried to obstruct the investigation - because of issues related to executive privilege. For one thing, Trump asserts, Mueller interviewed with Trump for the FBI Director job, and didn't get it, and is presumably disgruntled.

President Donald Trump took his unverified claim that Robert Mueller and James Comey are "best friends" to a new level in an interview - saying the men are so chummy he has photos of them 'hugging and kissing'.

The special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, eased up on his demands to question President Trump in the Russian Federation investigation, a shift that came as the president's lawyers, who have advised him against sitting for an interview, are fighting his desire to answer investigators' queries. Giuliani has said Trump does not recall asking Comey to drop an investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn and he does not want the president to be accused of lying about the episode.
