Goff has 465 yards, 5 TDs, propels Rams past Vikings, 38-31

A win on the road over the Rams could be a turning point for a Vikings squad that entered the season with extremely high expectations.

Completing 26 of 43 throws, Goff ended Thursday's 38-31 win over the Vikings with a ideal passer rating of 158.3. What has happened to Minnesota's defense over the past two weeks? Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins threw for 422 yards and three touchdowns, but he lost a fumble late in the fourth quarter to seal the win for Los Angeles.

Goff and Cousins got together at midfield afterward, exchanging compliments about their eye-catching performances and their bright futures ahead. He has 7 catches in three straight games and 80-plus yards in all four.

Goff completed 26 of 33 passes as the Rams (4-0) continued their best start since 2001 when they won their first six games en route to their most recent Super Bowl berth. LB Dominique Easley didn't play due to a knee injury, and McVay said the veteran "might be out for a little bit of time".

"I mean, he kicked the flag, " Zimmer said.

The Vikings got the ball back with 2mins 20sec, but Los Angeles rookie John Franklin-Myers stripped Cousins of the ball near midfield.

Todd Gurley finished with 83 yards rushing and 73 yards receiving for the Rams. Don't forget, Cousins was facing a very good defense himself. "We have not played well defensively".

"We were hopeful that we would be able to get that matchup", McVay said. Cousins credits McVay for a major role in his development into an $84 million quarterback, and Goff has spent untold hours watching film of Cousins' progress with McVay. Throwing more touchdowns than incompletions in week 2 vs. Denver, but the team as a whole is falling apart in the second half every week.

"I feel like we're going to be great", Robey-Coleman said. "You can utilize him in any way and because of just his overall poise and confidence and his demeanor, it helps me too". "To get a chance to go against him like that and kind of duke it out, I told him after the game how much I appreciated the battle with him". "I thought Kirk played good and Diggs played well", Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said. "I think we're a lot smarter football team than we were in the past, so I hope that shows on Thursday night". "Now the challenge is, can we continue it on when we get back for Week 5?" Following a punt by Minnesota, Goff led the Rams offense into the red zone of the Vikings before stalling out and settling for a 34-yard field by kicker Sam Ficken to go up 31-20. "It's nearly like you're throwing it away and Cooper did a great job saving them a little bit of room, and Jared put it in about a six-inch box that he could only fit it into".

Less than 2 1/2 minutes later, Goff hit Cooks down the middle for a 47-yard score. With that throw and several more of similar brilliance, Goff turned a phenomenal first half into the biggest game of his career.
