Mega Millions' record haul was a $656 million jackpot shared by people in three states in 2012. The most recent Mega Ball was 18 on Tuesday night.

The $548 million jackpot Friday would have been the third-largest in Mega Millions history.

The cash option for Friday night: $309 million. Saturday night's drawing was worth $314 million, provided someone held the ticket that matched all five numbers plus the Powerball.
