Those who take the cash will receive a one-time lump-sum equal to all the cash in the prize pool - which is $494 million for Friday's drawing.

The jackpot keeps swelling because nobody has won since July 24, when 11 workers in a California office shared $543 million.

"It's been a long time since anyones hit the Mega or the Powerball so tonight will be Powerball and then Friday will be Mega and it gets everybody excited, it's been quite awhile since anybody hit it", Pitcock said.

The Mega Millions prize was already giant, but now it's even bigger.

Nine Mega Millions tickets from Tuesday's drawing matched five white balls to win the second prize - $1 million. That ticket is worth $5 million. That jackpot has reached an estimated $345 million. The next drawing will be Fri., Oct.19, 2018.

Mega Millions is available in 44 US states, the capital Washington and the US Virgin Islands.

Of course, you could also enter the Powerball drawing on Wednesday.

The lottery prize was the country's third highest on record, trailing two Powerball jackpots, including a $1.586 billion payout in 2016.

The last MI player to win a Mega Millions jackpot was Kevin Blake, of Waterford.

A handful of million-dollar tickets were sold, including one in NY, one in New Jersey and two in Pennsylvania.

Lottery officials urge players to check their tickets.
