Liverpool felt wrath of 'emotional' Klopp, says Shaqiri

"Sometimes these games are a grind for Liverpool". Trent Alexander-Arnold and forward Roberto Firmino are in!

Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah was delighted to score in their Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade. "Klopp said he can do everything but there was an incisive pass that he played and he showed the type of quality he's going to have to produce if he's going to get into this team". In the United States the game can be watched live on television on NBC Sports, kick off 10am ET.

Liverpool face Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League on Wednesday as they aim to bounce back from a 1-0 defeat to Napoli in their last Group C fixture.

Jurgen Klopp's side made a blistering start to Group C, as Roberto Firmino scored a stoppage-time victor to defeat PSG 3-2 in a breathless contest.

Fabinho was a reported £43.7million arrival from Monaco in May but has struggled to establish himself in Klopp's first XI amid Liverpool's impressive start to the campaign.

"You can not win only with offensive football, it's not possible", said Klopp, after the 1-0 win at Huddersfield on Saturday.

"Paul Pogba is also playing against his former club - for the first time - and he has had a hand in all three United goals in the CL so far this term".

He made up for missing the second penalty - won when El Fardou Ben handled in the area - by sliding in to poke into the bottom corner to make it 4-0, before substitute Adam Lallana was denied a fifth from close range.

In injury news, Liverpool will be without Jordan Henderson & Naby Keita are recovering from hamstring complaints.

The Reds sit joint top of the table with champions Manchester City on 23 points, with seven wins and two draws from nine matches.

But Cardiff will be massive underdogs against a Liverpool side who remain unbeaten in the league and trail leaders Manchester City only on goal difference.

With Pep Guardiola's men not in action until Monday, and facing a testing trip to Tottenham, the Reds can open up a three-point advantage with a victory over Neil Warnock's struggling Bluebirds.
