PA Demands Israel Be Held Accountable For Killing 3 Children

The member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hanan Ashrawi, condemned on Monday the Israeli bombing of the blockaded Gaza Strip, which left a toll of three children dead.

The Israeli Security Cabinet met on Sunday evening to discuss the situation on the border with the Gaza Strip with the participation of senior security and army officials.

The boys were identified by the Gaza health ministry as Khaled Abu Said, 14, Mohammed Abu Zaher and Mohammed al-Satari, both 13.

The teens' bodies were wrapped in Palestinian flags and carried by mourners who shot in the air as they chanted "God is great".

Omar Shakir, Human Rights Watch director in Israel and the Palestinian territories, said the killing of the boys appeared to be a violation of human rights law.

More specifically, regarding the weekly Hamas-led border protests, just 36 percent of Gazans support this tactic, while 62 percent say they oppose it.

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres "deplores" the deaths of the three Palestinian children, a spokesman said.

Alon Schvartzer, director of Policy for Im Tirtzu, said that they arrived to show solidarity with the people of the south.

"The targeting of children or exposing them to risk leading to violence is utterly unacceptable", Stephane Dujarric said.

More than 205 Palestinians, including 37 children, have been killed in Gaza since March 30.

The Palestine Authority (PA) called on the worldwide community and the United Nations human rights organizations to immediately take global legal action and hold Israel accountable after committing a crime that resulted in the killing of three children near Gaza Strip border.

The rocket attacks followed the death of four Palestinians participating in a protest along Gaza's perimeter fence with Israel.
