Sarkar director will not be arrested till November 27: HC

AR Murugadoss moved the Madras High Court on Friday which has given him protection from arrest till November 27. The scene which shows the director of the movie AR Murugadoss throwing a mixie and grinder into the fire has been cut out of the film.

If the grapevine is anything to go by, "Sarkar" team has agreed to mute scenes that have been termed controversial.

According to Tamil film industry sources, "relevant scenes" in "Sarkar" have been removed and theatres would start screening the "edited" version from later in the day.

Chennai: Tamil film "superstar" Rajinikanth has lashed out at the ruling AIADMK for protesting against certain scenes in Vijay starrer Sarkar, released on Deepavali and questioned the rationale behind the protest against a film cleared by the censor board. The AIADMK has been protesting since the Diwali release of the movie with senior ministers demanding deletion of the objectionable scenes, besides threatening to initiate legal action if the film crew failed to comply.

Passing interim orders on the anticipatory bail application filed by Murugadoss, who apprehended arrest in connection with some complaints lodged against him, Justice G K Ilanthiraiyan directed him to co-operate with the police and adjourned the matter to November 27.

However, recently in an interview, TTV Dhinakaran revealed that Komalavalli is not the birth name of Jayalalithaa.

On Friday the filmmakers deleted the objectionable scenes and muted an apparent reference to the late Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa after two state ministers issued a stern warning.

According to trade analysts, the film is unstoppable in the US. However, Sun Picture is yet to make an official statement regarding the same.
