Samsung to reintroduce flat screen display in Galaxy S10 smartphone

Given that the South Korean technology firm only offers flat screens on its mid-range handsets, it's safe to assume these are much cheaper to manufacture and will allow the company to make the entry-level Galaxy S10 more affordable.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 64GB Android smartphone is down to $398.99 unlocked on Amazon.

As for those premium Galaxy S10 models, they should feature 5.8-inch and 6.44-inch displays, respectively.

The company's other Galaxy S10, codenamed Beyond X, will include other features.

It comes after Samsung reported a drop of 30% in Q3 mobile operating profit to 2.2 trillion won (US$1.95 billion).

The same report further revealed information about the Samsung Galaxy S10, as well. It will come in three sizes with a enormous 6.7-inch model being dubbed the "Beyond X". A different report said that Samsung's mobile division is under internal pressure to deliver innovations with the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy F, following the less than spectacular sales of this year's top Samsung phones.

Samsung is reportedly working on a 10th anniversary version of its Galaxy S10 phone that will work with the new 5G network standard and offer a multitude of cameras. However, even with all those lenses, it's quite possible Nokia might steal the spotlight from Samsung with a still-unreleased handset featuring five rear cameras that appeared in leaked photos back in September. That'd be the Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, and S10 Lite (final name for this last model still unknown).

Because Apple isn't expected to release a 5G-capable smartphone until 2020 at the earliest, Samsung will enjoy at least 18 months of first-to-market status with a 5G device.

As previously reported, Samsung's first foldable smartphone is tipped to unveil in February, launching in March 2018. There's nothing suggesting they won't do it again either, so if the color options really don't appeal to you then there is the option of new colors later on in its life cycle.
