Inconsistent Liverpool 'still have to develop', says Klopp

"We've conceded five goals and you talk about how our midfield is "overrun"?" he responded.

Iceland worldwide Sigurdsson scored the winning goal as Everton overcame promoted Cardiff City 1-0 last Saturday to extend their unbeaten league run to three games and climb to sixth in the table on 22 points.

"There were good games we played at home to Everton but we have to make sure as a club we create an atmosphere so exceptional it will make it a little bit easier for the players to come into it 100 per cent in a fighting mood".

During his pre-match press conference on Friday, Jürgen Klopp outlined why he feels the Blues will pose a different threat to the kind they have done previously while he's been at the helm of the Reds - and it's a sentiment Milner fully concurs with.

But the change that Marco Silva has brought to the Goodison outfit has been impressive in such a relatively short period.

"I think all the boys have been looking forward to the derby since the start of the season and that feeling has grown with the performances we have been putting together over the past couple of months", Sigurdsson told the club website. "You can see the style of play is different to a year ago".

"He's a very good player with a lot of quality who can arrive well in the box, like I like".

With Jordan Henderson suspended for Sunday's game, Klopp was asked if his alternatives would be ready.

"We don't need to think we are a s*** team, basically. We have to prove it", he said.

"It's a fact, but I can say to (the players) that always these type of records, they exist to break", he said when reminded of Everton's results against their neighbours. Of course it could be better, but it's not because of one player.

"I can't say to the boys, 'We've fixed things at the back but we're not doing enough offensively.' That would be insane".

On the subject of Henderson's absence, he dismissed any notion that will was a "problem", stressing-as he did after the win at Vicarage Road-that they had time to find a solution.

"We want to play against them week by week and be competitive".

"When you play in the big games, it's a very good thing for you as a player".
