India Condemns Terror Attack In Iran's Chabahar

Videos posted on Twitter, purportedly from Chabahar, showed thick smoke rising from the area.

An official told TV that "the terrorist who carried out the attack was killed".

Chabahar lies in Sistan-Balochistan province which has always been a flashpoint, with separatists and extremists carrying out attacks targeting the authorities. A year ago, the group claimed to have blown up an oil pipeline in Iran's southern Khuzestan province. He said no group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, adding that the various aspects of the attack would soon come to light after thorough investigation is concluded.

Tehran accuses its key regional rival Saudi Arabia and the United States of funding most of these groups, a charge Riyadh and Washington deny.

Chabahar, near Iran's border with Pakistan on the Sea of Oman, is home to a new port recently built and is an economic free zone for the country.

India is developing the Chabahar port along with Iran and Afghanistan.
