EPL: What Sarri said after Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace

Six minutes into the second half, the away team netted the only goal of the game through N'Golo Kante.

"If Steve has mentioned that, then it's not a secret he's a target of ours and he is someone we would like to have", Hodgson said. 'What would he do? "He would provide the attacking threat that a good centre forward should provide..."

Sarri's side have collected 21 points from 10 home games in the Premier League this season, only losing to Leicester City at Stamford Bridge.

'He's someone with the profile we're looking for, and the ability we are looking for.

Hazard has long dreamed about a move to the Bernabeu but Chelsea are willing to make him their highest paid player ever and his family are settled in London.

Speaking after the match, via Sky Sports, Sarri offered praise for the goalscorer, and said: "I think that it was a very good movement (for the goal, from Kanté) and with the right timing".

He is second only to Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs in the all-time assists chart, despite having spent three years in Spain at Barcelona, and has won every English domestic trophy including two League titles with Chelsea.

'Our first half was disciplined and focused and we limited their goalscoring chances. Moreover, he has also become a vital cog of the national team and it remains to be seen whether he would take up a bigger challenge when the transfer window reopens.

N'Golo Kante scored the victor in a 1-0 victory at Selhurst Park, where Olivier Giroud was taken off after suffering an ankle injury.

The Chelsea defender hasn't always been everyone's cup of tea, with his occasional lapses in concentration often proving costly, but there were no such problems on Sunday in a fine display. Yesterday in 10 minutes we had three injuries - Fabregas, Loftus and Drinkwater - and today we had Pedro and Odoi out.

"Fabregas' is a neck problem. I will have a meeting with the doctor this evening".

"I like that we were in full control of the match for 85 minutes. We could have scored early but they also did a great match defensively which is why it was so hard", Chelsea's Luiz told reporters.
