Nasukawa: Mayweather is First Class, I Was Reckless and Lost

Nasukawa: Mayweather is First Class, I Was Reckless and Lost

While Mayweather reportedly made $9 million and looked to clearly be the more imposing fighter during the exhibition match, analysts and critics were quick to point out how Mayweather was fighting at a much heavier weight.

But he then demonstrated his power, launching a series of jabs and hooks to the head of the 20-year-old Japanese fighter, sending him to the canvas after just one minute with a left hook.

But don't tell that to Nasukawa, who came out swinging for the fences against the undefeated and retired champion. "It was about entertainment and we had fun", Mayweather said, with Nasukawa in tears after the fight. "The fans in Japan, they wanted this to happen, so I said why not".

Floyd Mayweather destroys Tenshin Nasukawa with swift KO in first round

Mayweather, a legend in the boxing world, has a flawless 50-0 record with 27 knockouts.

Mayweather, who hadn't fought since beating UFC star Conor McGregor more than a year ago, said he was retired and came to Tokyo to give an opportunity to a younger fighter like Nasukawa.

But for Mayweather, it was about more than just entertainment - the 41-year-old American intimated on Instagram that he would be paid $9m for the exhibition, which was scheduled for three rounds.

With Kenny Bayless in the ring, a ludicrous size advantage and the rules favouring Mayweather, there was no way that Floyd was going to lose Monday's exhibition fight.

His corner threw in the towel so he didn't get knocked out cold.

But Nasukawa never landed a meaningful punch.

"I want the fans all around the world to support him. I'm still 50-0", according to ESPN's Ariel Helwani.

The one thing that is undoubtedly certain about the fight is that Mayweather made a big payday for a few short minutes of work. Tenshin is a true champion and a hell of a fighter. "Thank you to the fans you guys have been awesome".
