Southampton v Manchester City, Premier League

Their year-end tally has only ever been bettered twice, by Chelsea (55) in 2005/06 and Manchester City (58) last season.

"We had two poor games and we knew we needed to win to give ourselves a chance and we did just that".

Neil Warnock has the side as well organised as you would expect, with Tuesday's match offering the chance for them to record three straight top-flight clean sheets for the first time since 1957.

Liverpool continued to set the pace at the top as they thrashed Arsenal 5-1 at Anfield, whilst Manchester City leapfrogged Tottenham who surprisingly lost at home to Wolves.

Liverpool fans can take heart from this as well as the fact that Jurgen Klopp's men are showing no signs of slowing down.

"It's one of those key games you live for". Confidence is definitely here, but it can change over a couple of games. "You look for what you have to do better".

The Reds have also come out on top in two of the last three meetings between the clubs, but despite those mental advantages, Klopp insists they're academic. No wonder he finished with more than 40 fantasy points both times. After the match, Roy Hodgson said Townsend had "one of those bonanza days", and he couldn't have picked a better stage to perform at such a level.

I think we started well with the first goal and then they had the difference with attacking moments, determination and quality. Pogba will be my Tier 1 midfielder and captain. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Harry Kane are two of the three league leaders in goals with 13, along with Liverpool's Mohamed Salah.

"He's been looking at this for a year now or more and unusually City have not really responded or reacted properly to this".

Arsenal are at home, while Tottenham are away, but that's not the only reason I'm picking Aubameyang over Kane. Liverpool know what they have to do and we know what we have to do. But I'm a little higher on Aubameyang.

In the 80th minute, Victory Wanyama scored an absolute missile into the top corner after Karius punched an earlier effort, a goal worthy to be the trigger to the wild portion of this game.

Today City had to beat Southampton to stay in the race and on Thursday the teams meet at the Etihad Stadium in what is already being talked about as the game of the season.

Meanwhile, Manchester United's revival since Jose Mourinho's sacking continued with Paul Pogba scoring twice again.
