Kawhi Leonard booed in return to San Antonio

Kawhi Leonard recently made his return to Texas to face-off against his former team, the San Antonio Spurs. "I put a lot of blood, sweat and tears wearing that jersey, believing in something". "So I would imagine that he'll have a really good chance of handling it".

It's easier to joke about the pending reunion because there was nothing amusing about the breakup. "He's won a championship and grew up here".

Neither side has offered any details on the saga - a stance that continues. "That's of no outcome at this point and it does no good to go backwards and talk about this, that or the other".

The Raptors are capable of playing great defense, but San Antonio is just too hot right now. He and Popovich embraced following the game.

"At times, yeah", Leonard said. "Everybody is anticipating the game. They knock it down, they make me look good, so all the credit goes to them for sure".

The trade is working out well for both teams - for now.

DeRozan finished with 21 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists as he dominated the battle against Leonard, who was making his first trip back since being traded to Toronto in the offseason.

Spurs fans did cheer Green enthusiastically when he was introduced. There is a faction that believes he will receive a warm welcome while others expect a stiff chorus of boos. "So I felt badly, honestly", Popovich said of the booing. "We always have in the past, so we'll see". I'm hoping one thing. "He's been a great teammate, a great friend to me, he deserves that".

Leonard was not about to elaborate on his departure from San Antonio - "I'm not going to discuss that here today", he said quickly and emphatically - but he knew there would be, at best, mixed reaction from fans upon his return.

Even DeRozan, who on numerous occasions has expressed disappointment and anger about being traded from Toronto, doesn't expect this contest to have any added significance. But the final chapter of his nine-year career as a Raptor certainly didn't play out as he would have scripted.

DeRozan, meanwhile, told reporters Wednesday he hadn't thought much of Thursday's reunion. But there wasn't [any] emotions, wasn't emotional at all for me.

"Kawhi is a high-character guy", Popovich said, via the San Antonio Express-News. "Who raised you? God got us!" "Doesn't matter what we say, you're going to say whatever you want, so that's a waste of our time". "Those are the goals every game". In addition, the crowd chanted "Danny, Danny" leading up to Green being introduced prior to the game. "You've got to love to play in that type of atmosphere, whether it's at home or on the road".
