Karolina Pliskova has further enhanced her Brisbane International record and moved within a win of a second title after a comfortable semifinal defeat of Donna Vekic on Saturday night.

An athletic backhand smash victor brought them level on terms and Pliskova didn't stop there, racing to a 3-0 lead in the deciding set to dash Tsurenko's hopes of a breakthrough top-level title.

However, she is now expected to pull out of the Sydney International, in which she was due to have a first round rematch with Tsurenko.

Tsurenko ultimately blasted 20 winners to go one better than her semi-final appearance in Brisbane in 2013.

Both players held their serve thereafter, and the match eventually reached with Pliskova leading 5-2 and Tsurenko having to serve to stay alive in the final.

It was one-way traffic from there as Pliskova, aided by a medical time-out for her opponent after Tsurenko rolled her ankle, seized the initiative and a pair of breaks ensured a comprehensive victory.

I feel like a year ago I did a lot of that.

"You raised your level so much, I'm a fan of your tennis".

Karolina Pliskova was seemingly dead and buried in the Brisbane International final, until her Aussie coach sparked her into action. But then the ball wouldn't go in and then I would go back to being childish and stuff. "I don't want to say that this was my best tennis, but it was quite a high level", Tsurenko said.

"Felt very good physically and, tennis-wise, I think it was ideal", Nishikori said.

Teenage qualifier Bianca Andreescu is into her maiden final after stunning No. 3 seed Su-wei Hsieh 6-3, 6-3 on Saturday in Auckland, New Zealand.

The Brisbane title is the 12th of the world number eight's career and sets Pliskova in good stead ahead of the Australian Open.

"Physically and tennis-wise I think it was ideal. I think today I learned. what I can do to improve the situation". "I feel more strong now, so I can kind of handle every kind of pressure on court, even when someone like Naomi is playing really strong".
