Guardiola equals his largest winning margin as City rout Burton

Gabriel Jesus scored four times and Kevin De Bruyne, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Phil Foden, Kyle Walker and Riyad Mahrez also found the net as City recorded their biggest win since defeating Huddersfield Town 10-1 in the old Second Division 32 years ago.

"We are considering it, we are talking about that", Guardiola said of a possible new deal.

All we'll say is that he looked mighty bashful while celebrating...

After setting up Walker for City's eighth, Mahrez completed Burton's misery with a goal of his own, the Algeria global poking the ball past Collins to round out a one-sided semi-final encounter. However, given how ruthless City were on Sunday, it is hard to imagine that Nigel Clough's side stand any chance on Wednesday night at the Etihad Stadium.

"It's not about tonight, it's about Burton Albion getting to the semi-final of the League Cup", he said.

We've not gone into any detail with them (the players) because that will frighten the life out of them. We're going to play a lot from the second team and those who don't get many minutes.

Guardiola admitted they have already secured a spot in next month's Carabao Cup final after securing his joint-highest victory as a manager in the first leg.

"It is the best way to respect the competition and to respect the opponent, because if you forget to continue, you don't have respect for your opponent or the competition".

Burton were left with an unenviable task in continuing their fairy-tale cup run against a mesmerizing City outfit who had just annihilated Rotherham United 7-0 in the FA Cup third round. They beat mythical teams - like Aston Villa and Middlesbrough.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher responded to a dig from a City supporter by tweeting: "You can't fill your Stadium!" "That's what we have done and that's why we are pleased".

City's fourth was harsh on the visitors as Zinchenko's attempted cross looped over Collins, but there was no doubting the quality of Jesus' hat-trick goal as he converted Mahrez's cross to the back post.

"I told them that front five, if they reach the Champions League semi-final, will give Real Madrid or whoever they play a problem".

'Players like me want to play more, to help the team, and we went out there to win'.
