Bucs signing Bruce Arians to 4-year deal as new head coach

Stuart wrote similar things at the end of this season and added he wasn't overly impressed with former Bucs coach Dirk Koetter.

"Obviously I'll have a big hand in it", Arians said Wednesday on the Rich Eisen Show.

Arians, 66, stepped down previous year in an apparent retirement after going 49-30-1 as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals from 2013 to 2017.

That's likely why Arians could be named the team's coach as early as Tuesday, according to the Times.

One year into retirement, Bruce Arians is reportedly set to return to coaching and take over as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

General manager Jason Licht also interviewed Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, Vikings defensive coordinator George Edwards and Dallas Cowboys defensive backs coach and defensive passing game coordinator Kris Richard.

Bowles (defensive coordinator) - who was just fired as the New York Jets' head coach - Goodwin (offensive coordinator) and Leftwich (quarterbacks coach) were on Arians' staff in Arizona.

Now, Arians and Leftwich will try to work their magic with the Bucs, who certainly have some talented playmakers to work with on offense. Since 2017, however, he's missed eight games and nine starts, failing to convince Koetter in 2018 that he belonged as Tampa's full-time starter. In his three years in Arizona before that lone campaign under.500, Arians helped the team improve from 10-6 to 11-5 to 13-3 in 2015.

Among the high-profile quarterbacks he has worked with during a long coaching career are Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, Carson Palmer and Andrew Luck.
