Teen crashes in Layton while doing 'Bird Box' Challenge

'This happened on Monday as a result of the driver covering her eyes while driving on Layton Parkway.

'Bird Box Challenge while driving.predictable result, ' Layton Police wrote in a tweet that included pictures of the two cars involved in the crash.

Jake Paul's "Bird Box Challenge" Video was reportedly removed from Youtube after he drives auto bindfolded.

The challenge is based on the hit Netflix movie starring Sandra Bullock where characters must constantly be blindfolded to avoid visions that urge them to commit suicide.

The 17 year-old female driver wasn't injured in the accident, according to a tweet from the Layton, Utah Police Department. "She hit another vehicle, a light pole and a sound wall", local police told the news outlet.

"Honestly I'm nearly embarrassed to have to say "Don't drive with your eyes covered" but you know apparently we do have to say that", Lyman told Fox 13. If you haven't seen the movie, the gist is the world is plagued by supernatural beings that will compel anyone who sees them to kill themselves.

The 17-year-old girl was said to have had a 16-year-old male passenger in the truck with her. "It really puts everybody at risk".

A teen driver attempting a new and unsafe fad inspired by a Netflix movie caused a crash earlier this week, Layton Police say.

Police are recommending reckless driving charges in the case but it will be up to the County Attorney's Office to determine what charges, if any, are filed.

The popularity of the challenge even prompted Netflix to issue a warning against unsafe behavior.

Jake Paul's bird box challenge video has been taken off Youtube.
